+81 Gallery is pleased to announce New York based photographer, A- chan’s solo exhibition.
The new works –Sky and Cloud, “Winter/Spring”– were shot in Brooklyn from the rooftop of the artist’s home, and these were created in C-print from negative using an experimental process with FUJI FP100c instant film that was discontinued in 2016. The unique colors and patterns that occur in these photos are organic, accidents analogous to the random beauty found in nature. Nature’s power, nature’s sadness, nature’s indifference are embodied in this work as extensions of the artist’s daily life in her private space. The “Winter/Spring” collection concludes the “Summer/Fall” collection presented in spring of 2017, completing the “Seasons” photography. Limited edition of “Seasons” photography will be available for purchase. Set includes 4 images of each season <image size approx. 5”x 6”> $630 / set 19 limited editions All images will be available for viewing at the gallery or contact the gallery for additional information.
The project aspires to bring the seasons into your home, while simultaneously encouraging the viewer to look beyond her private space and become newly aware of the natural world. Collectors of “Sky and Cloud “ will receive seasonal photos and letters by A-chan over the course of the year. <First delivery will be in March 2018>

春夏秋冬 1 年の四季を通して、ニューヨーク、ブルックリンの作家の住まいの屋上より撮影された作品は、このほど製造中止になった FUJI FP100c instant film を使用し、実験的なプロセスによって得られたネガより C-PRINT されています。(展示会場では、対をなすオリジナル写真もご覧いただけます。)
そこに表現される偶然的に作られたユニークな色味やパターンは、自然のそれと相似するものがあります。 自然の絶対的な力強さと切なさが、自宅の屋上から撮影することによって、彼女の作風である「日常」の延長上での出来事として表現されています。 2017 年の春に行われた、「空と雲」夏秋 展と今回の「空と雲」冬春 展で、春夏秋冬「四季」の写真が揃いました。
これに伴い四季の組み写真を限定販売いたします。 展示会場を抜け出して、季節を御自宅にお届けするのがコンセプトです。 四季の写真(APPROX. 5” x 6” 4 枚 1 組)をご購入頂いた方には、季節を通じ 4 回にわたり、写真と作者からの一文を郵送させていただきます。<2018 年 3 月初回郵送予定> 実際の組み写真は展示会場でご覧いただけます、また直接お越しのなられない方は、参考となる写真をご提示いたします。

The current exhibition features photos from Summer/Autumn – “Sky and Cloud” – to be followed in six months by photos from Winter/Spring. This work in progress will culminate in a set of 4 photographs, 1 for each season.

写真集” Salt’n Vinegar “は、2011年から2014年にかけて彼女の日常を写し撮った作品がまとめられています。
彼女の雄弁かつ静かな感性は、普段そこにあるもの、蛇口から水が出たり、道を行き来する人、スーパーマーケットの棚、捨てられたポテトチップスの袋などへ小さな美しさを見出します。
“うまくいかないことがあって、厚い雲の中をクロールしてる期間、裏庭の老人と話したり、公園へ散歩に行った。その日々がストーリーになった。でももしかしたら瞬きした一瞬の想いかもしれない。”
モノクロ写真とカラー写真で構成された”Salt’n Vinegar “は、前作、2012年Steidlから出版されたカラー写真集” VIBRANT HOME “、モノクロ写真集”OFF BEAT”の集大成といえます。
日本では5年振りとなる彼女の新作をぜひ会場でご覧ください。
